A New Warrior Emerges
We're thrilled to announce that the Monk class is now fully playable in Lourdin RPG! Masters of martial arts and spiritual discipline, Monks harness the power of Ki to perform extraordinary feats in combat. This premium class brings a unique playstyle focused on speed, precision, and tactical positioning.
Class Overview
Core Identity
Role: Melee DPS & Mobility Expert
Primary Stats: Dexterity (+1), Wisdom (+1)
Armor: Light armor only (embracing agility over protection)
Playstyle: Fast-paced striker with defensive options
Monks are masters of unarmed combat who combine martial prowess with mystical energy. Unlike heavily armored warriors, Monks rely on speed and technique, making them devastating strikers who can dart in and out of danger.
Starting Strong
Level 1 Equipment
- Quarterstaff (1d6 damage) - Traditional monk weapon
- Cloth Robes (Light armor, +1 AC) - Freedom of movement
- 50 copper - Starting funds
Base Combat Stats
- HP: 8 per level (medium survivability)
- AC: 10 + DEX modifier + armor (typically 15+ at level 1)
- Unarmed Damage: Scales with level (see progression below)
๐ Martial Arts Progression
One of the most iconic Monk features is scaling unarmed damage. While other classes are stuck with 1d4 unarmed strikes, Monks grow exponentially more dangerous:
| Level Range | Unarmed Damage | Average Damage |
|---|---|---|
| 1-4 | 1d6 | 3.5 |
| 5-10 | 1d8 | 4.5 |
| 11-16 | 1d10 | 5.5 |
| 17-20 | 2d6 | 7.0 |
Example: A Level 10 Monk with 16 DEX (+3 modifier) deals 1d8 + 3 = 7.5 average damage per unarmed strike - rivaling many weapons!
At Level 20, Monks deal 2d6 + DEX modifier per hit, making them formidable damage dealers without needing any equipment.
โก Ki Point System
Monks channel mystical energy called Ki to fuel their extraordinary abilities.
Ki Mechanics
- Ki Points: Equal to your Monk level (minimum 2 at Level 1)
- Current Ki: Tracks available points during combat
- Restoration: Full ki restored after every combat (win, loss, or flee)
- Cost: Most abilities cost 1 ki point
Example Progression:
- Level 1: 2 ki points
- Level 5: 5 ki points
- Level 10: 10 ki points
- Level 20: 20 ki points
